Theme questions
How do I find my Shopify theme id?
Open your storefront, open the browser developer console and type Shopify.theme.theme_store_id. It returns a number. A theme that was not published in the Shopify theme store returns null, because only theme store themes carry an id. The theme name itself is in your admin under Online Store and then Themes.
What is a Shopify theme store id?
It is the number Shopify assigns to a theme published in its theme store. It identifies the theme rather than your shop, so every store running Dawn reports the same id. Apps use it to load the integration written for that theme.
My theme reports no id. Is it supported?
It can be. Themes sold outside the Shopify theme store have no store id, so they are matched by name instead. 68 of them are on this page, and they work the same way once matched.
My theme is not on this list at all.
It may still work. Unmapped themes fall back to generic selectors, which is enough on many of them. When it is not, send support your collection page URL and the theme gets mapped properly, which helps everyone on that theme rather than only you. A custom selector can also be pointed at by hand in the meantime.
Does a theme update break the swatches?
It should not. The swatches render inside a shadow root, so theme CSS cannot reach into them, and the mapping is against structural elements rather than presentational classes. If an update does move something, tell support and the mapping is corrected for that theme version.
Why do page builders need naming by hand?
A page built by Instant, GemPages, PageFly, Omnise, EComposer, Foxify or Replo is structured by the builder rather than by the theme underneath it, so the theme store id points at the wrong map. Choosing the builder as your theme type in the app embed screen tells the app which structure it is really looking at.
